Nate Tilton is a PhD student in Cultural Anthropology at UC Berkeley, a retired Army Sergeant First Class and Federal Air Marshal, a disability advocate, and a lecturer at Cal Poly Humboldt. His research focuses on the intersections of militarization, colonialism, and disability in the Pacific.
Nate’s research explores the ways in which U.S. military expansion and ecological disruptions on Guam, including the construction of military gun ranges that may threaten the island's largest freshwater aquifer, impact health, local governance, and indigenous sovereignty, contributing to broader discussions on militarization and gun violence as systemic forces.
